Liberals are Livid as Trump Slaps UN, Pulls Out U.S. form UNESCO for ‘Anti-Israel Bias’

The United States under President Donald Trump is pulling out from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), quoting “mounting arrears,” the “need for fundamental reform,” and “anti-Israel bias.”

A Spokesman for State Department issued the announcement on Thursday.

Irina Bokova, the head of UNESCO, was informed about the withdrawal, which will go into effect after December 31, according to UNESCO Constitution.

Even though this announcement provoked criticism from the liberals, this isn’t the first time U.S. has withdrawn from UNESCO or the first time it has taken measures against the organization for its stance on Israel.

in 1984 former President Ronald Reagan also withdrew U.S. out of UNESCO, and George W. Bush reenter U.S. in 2002.

In 2011 UNESCO welcomed Palestine, long rivals of Israel, so Obama administration stopped funding UN.

Even though the U.S. won’t be a member anymore, that doesn’t mean that will absolutely stay away, the Trump administration says it will “remain engaged” as a “non-member observer.”

As written on its website, “UNESCO works to create the conditions for dialogue among civilizations, cultures, and peoples, based upon respect for commonly shared values.” It does so by funding publications and giving money to causes that align with its principles of “peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue.”

And as expected, liberals are going crazy over the announcement on social media, even though I’m sure they had no knowledge of what UNESCO is or does until they’ve googled after hearing about the withdrawal.
